When the Triangle of Death appeared on the screen of my Gen 1 Prius, I knew it was going to be an expensive day. Even more so when I called home and asked my wife to check the warranty on the new main battery Pacific Motor Service installed in 2016. "Bad news," she said, "the warranty was only good for 6 months." Fearing the worst, I found a battery distributor that would do the swap in my own garage, and scheduled them. It was going to be an expensive day all right. But then I called Kevin at Pacific Motor Service, and said, "I know there's no warranty left but is there anything you could do to offset some of the cost of another new battery ? I haven't put many miles on the car at all." Kevin checked the paperwork on file. "Actually," he said, "you're completely under warranty. We guarantee repairs for 3 years or 36,000 miles. Look on the back of the work order." I did. He was right. And so I canceled the in-garage battery swap, and thanked Kevin for his integrity and honesty. He could have walked away from an expensive redo, but he honored his word and his shop performed the repair quickly, well, and at no cost to me. Five stars, and with a two-Prius household, he'll be seeing our cars again for service.
